The Lotus Evija

The Lotus Evija

The 1,972bhp all-electric hypercar will be acting as a halo model for the future range from the British brand. JPronounced E-vi-ya (and earlier known as the Type 130) it is Lotus’s first full-electric hypercar, and just 130 units will be built costing around Dh7.5 million each!

It has been a decade since Lotus revealed an all-new model — and it’s been worth the wait. The new Evija, which made its Middle East debut earlier this month at a launch event held at the brand’s 5,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility on Sheikh Zayed Road, isn’t just a total stunner, it is the world’s most powerful road car too — according to the brand.

Inspired by Le Mans sportscars and F1 racers, the two-seat Evija debuts a new design language that Lotus says will appear on its future models. Based on a bespoke carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and cloaked in carbon-fibre bodywork, it features a complex electric drivetrain that includes four electric motors (one on each wheel) and produces 1,972bhp and 1,700Nm of torque.
